One of the hardest things to do when you work is to make time to learn something new. I’ve tried to break from the comfort of working strictly in 2D to embrace the rising popularity of 3D art making. Being a designer at times means having to do things you’re not totally comfortable with-but it’s always tempered with the validation when you start to get it or start to enjoy doing it.
I’ve begun taking a ZBrush class-because ZBrush seems the most intuitive to my designer brain. I’m loving it so far.
It’s frustrating when it doesn’t go well, and things could still be better. But it’s kind of neat to see the work you’ve done being rendered a bit in a 3D medium. I’m excited at the possibility that at the end, I’ll be able to make things that may be 3D printable…maybe even prototyped. I do dream of doing my own things and making my own way in this world-and as I sit and try to learn to sculpt…watch another tutorial-get frustrated when the program crashes or bugs out…I feel like I get one step closer to fulfilling that.
